Photographers of Pokémon better get ready, as “New Pokémon Snap” is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 30. The release date was revealed on Thursday, along with a trailer that shows the Lental region of the game.
In New Pokémon Snap, players control a Pokémon photographer who travels through Lental, a region filled with beautiful landscapes from lush jungles to sandy beaches. Players work with the area's expert, Professor Mirror, and his assistant Rita to conduct ecological surveys, photographing and observing Pokémon in their natural habitat.
The game remains similar to its predecessor, in which players travel in a self-driving vehicle while visiting various locations in the area, taking photos to build their “Photodex.” Points are awarded based on the quality of the photos players take, and as in the original game, players can use items such as apples to attract Pokémon closer to them for a better shot.
It's been 21 years since the original Pokemon Snap was released on the N64, and the sequel comes on the franchise. Yesterday, The Pokémon Company International announced that it will be launching a series of music events to celebrate anniversary .
