Tesla's Autopilot system will now be able to detect speed limit signs using the cars' built-in cameras, according to information reported by Electrek . When the camera detects a speed limit sign, it will appear in the car's onboard driver visualization, and will be used to warn drivers about their speed, according to the software's release notes

The latest software update also adds traffic light and STOP control functions, and a “chiming” will sound when the Tesla is in front of a traffic light and it turns green. The purpose of the new features is only to notify, while it is up to the driver to decide whether and when to start the car.

In April, Tesla rolled out a beta software update for its newer cars to allow them to see and respond to stop signs and traffic lights at certain intersections. The “ Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control ” feature was made available to vehicles with the “ self-driving ” version of Autopilot, and when enabled, it slows the car to a stop for headlights and stop signs.

Musk released a version of the Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control feature in 2018, saying:

"Your Tesla will soon be able to go from your home garage to work , without any driver intervention."

But even though Tesla calls this version of Autopilot “full self-driving,” and despite Elon Musk’s promises to have fully autonomous vehicles by this year, it’s not quite there yet. It still needs humans behind the wheel, while the “full self-driving” package, which starts at around $7,000, gives customers access to additional enhancements like speed limit and stop signs.
