According to new research, COVID-19 cannot be transmitted to another patient after 11 days, even if the sick person still tests positive for the virus.
Researchers from the Academy of Medicine in Singapore and the National Center for Infectious Diseases were the ones who discovered these new findings.

The study was conducted on 73 patients in Singapore. The researchers found that while patients still tested positive for coronavirus after 11 days, they could no longer isolate or culture samples of the virus from these patients.
According to the study, coronavirus patients become infectious two days before they show symptoms and remain infectious for 7 to 10 days after symptoms appear.
The rate of virus multiplication slowed after the first week of infection and stopped completely after the second week.
Eleven days after infection, patients develop two major symptoms: frequent coughing and high fever. However, at this stage, the patient can no longer transmit the virus to anyone else.
The findings of the new study could lead to changes in the way COVID-19 patients are treated. Most countries , for example, require patients to test negative before they can be released from quarantine. However, according to a recent study by the Korean CDC, this method of categorizing coronavirus patients could be flawed.
