Endless Computershas announced the release of version 3.8.1 of its Endless OS operating system. The new version comes with a number of improvements and changes, as well as many bug fixes in the appearance and operation of the operating system. Below you can see the most important of them:

Installation application:

Endless OS is one of the few operating systemsthat has its own application . The Endless OS installer allows you to create an Endless OS Live USB without the need to download and burn large ISO files.

In the latest version of the operating system, the installer has been updated, making the Dual boot. In addition, users can now keep the files that were on the USBafter creating the bootable USB.

If you are using Endless OS in a virtual machine, the installer contains new VMWare Guest tools, which will help improve the operating system's performance.

Default applications:

In addition to the improvements to the Endless OS installer, there are also several improvements to the operating system's default applications. For example, Chromium, which has been updated to version 81.0.4044.138. In addition, the parental control application now works flawlessly with the rest of the operating system's languages.

Some other improvements made in the latest version of the operating system are:

  • The default search in the Kolibri education application is now on the desktop.
  • The ability to change the keyboard in password dialogs.
  • Custom avatars.

Bug Fixes:

  • Addressing the error when importing OS OVF files.
  • Some bugs in the installer were removed.
  • The App Center now shows all available updates.

Installation methods:

There are currently no Endless OS 3.8.1 installation files available. However, if you already have an older version of the operating system installed, you can update your system to the latest beta version using the following commands:

  • eos-updater-ctl update
  • reboot
  • pkexec eos-stage-ostree demo

Once a stable version is released, you can update your system by typing:

  • pkexec eos-stage-ostree prod
