For the first time in four years, Google is adding five more languages to Google Translate thanks to AI. With this new addition, the total number of supported languages is 108.
The company said it was slow to add new languages because the translation app needed a lot of time to "learn" them .

However, recent advances in machine learning and AI and help from members of the Google Translate Community have allowed Google to integrate the five new languages, which are: Kinyarwanda, Odia, Tatar, Turkmen, and Uyghur.
Millions of people speak these languages . Kinyarwanda is the official language of Rwanda, spoken by about 12 million. Odia is a language spoken by 40 million people in the Indian state of Odisha. About seven million speak the Tatar language in the Tatarstan region of Russia .
Turkmen is the official language of Turkmenistan and is also spoken by seven million people. Finally, Uyghur is the official language of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in western China and is spoken by about 15 million people.

Google Translate now offers text translation and website for each of these five languages. It also supports on-screen keyboard input for Kinyarwanda , Tatar , . and Uyghur

The addition of the new languages gives Google Translate an even bigger lead, leaving Microsoft Translator, which supports over 60 languages. As we mentioned above, however, Google supports 108 languages.
