As revealed by HackerRank's new Developer Skills 2020 survey, the top two languages that developers are looking to learn these days are Go and Python.
HackerRank surveyed 116,000 programmers from 162 countries to conduct the survey. The report presents the current state of software, programming languages, coding boot camps, and more.
Go and Python are the most desirable programming languages
The Go programming language, which is a creation of Google, is not on the list of the top 10 most popular programming languages, but it is a language that developers are very interested in learning.
About 36% of developers want to learn Go as their next programming language . In fact, this is the third time that developers have highlighted Go as the first language they would choose to learn.
Go's popularity has grown since its release in 2009, largely due to its adoption and promotion by Google for Android application development .
The second language on the report's list is Python, with 28% of programmers choosing it as their next language.
Another programming language that is particularly popular on the list is Kotlin, which is extremely popular among Android app developers and is in third place.
Fourth place goes to Typoscript, created by Microsoft, while R, a popular language among data scientists, ranked fifth.
The other top languages on the list are Scala, Swift, Rust, Ruby, and JavaScript. Developers are also showing interest in React, AngularJS, and Django.
