Microsoft recently offered the public the latest update of Windows 10, with number 1909, the so-called “November 2019 Update”. This update is called an “update” because that is essentially what it is, since it does not bring any significant additions or changes, but guarantees improvements in the stability and speed of the system . Essentially, it fixes most of the minor problems of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. A typical example are some settings such as the ability to access third-party digital assistants from the lock screen , new ways to add some events from the calendar directly to the taskbar , new ways to manage notifications from the Action Center and a new file search system in File Explorer . This update is more like a service pack than the major Windows updates for Windows 10.
Microsoft has made Windows 10 1909 available to those who were looking for updates from Windows Update. Windows 10 1909 is available to all users from Windows Update.
Microsoft is starting the effort to automatically launch a feature update for a large number of devices running the 2018 Home and Pro editions (Windows 10, version 1809), keeping those devices supported and receiving the monthly updates that are critical to device security and ecosystem health. The launch process begins months before the end of service date to allow enough time for a smooth update process. Windows 10 1809 proved to be a disaster for users, forcing many users to stay on version 1803 or the April 2018 Update.
It's worth noting that version 1809 was deemed ready for business in March 2019, much later than previous versions. Shortly after that, Windows 10 version 1809 reached its end .
Windows 10 1909 was the first time Microsoft introduced its new update process, which uses the same technology it uses to deliver monthly updates, as opposed to the larger feature that come out twice a year.
The new approach did not extend to computers running Windows 10 1809 or earlier. These devices had to be updated using the regular method.
