As the New York Post reported last year , Amazon was planning to create a new technology that would use the features in users ' hands to make purchases. However, the Wall Street Journal recently reported that these check-in terminals will be installed in all of the company's brick-and-mortar stores.
The new technology, which Amazon is working on, is set to change the way shopping, as consumers will now be able to use their hands to pay. The exact process that will be followed is of course not yet known.
According to the report, this venture could be implemented through terminals where customers can link their credit card information to their palms. This way, customers would no longer need to use their credit cards to make payments at the store.
All customers will need to do is place their card in the slot on the terminals and then place their hand. The terminal will scan both the card and the customer's hand and then establish a connection between their data. The technology will be able to recognize the lines and even the veins on a consumer's hand.
Currently, the company is testing the technology with VISA and plans to soon move on to Mastercard.
Also, each customer's scanned data will be stored in the Amazon cloud. Thus, the same data can be associated with each customer's purchase on Amazon.com.
These payment terminals could prove particularly handy for stores with “many recurring transactions with their customers.”
According to sources, Amazon is already in talks with JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo & Co. and Synchrony Financial to get all its stores the technology.
