The most widely used torrent metasearch engine for over a decade, Torrentz.eu went offline last year. The reason behind the abrupt decision to shut down the service remains unclear, but it seems the owner has decided to move on.
No, he does not intend to operate the service again, but he has the domain names for sale, for anyone interested.
Last year, the torrent community lost two of its biggest websites. The first was KickassTorrents , which was shut down by the FBI, and a few days later, Torrentz.eu decided to voluntarily shut down. Without any prior warning, all torrent listings on the site were removed from the search engine.
The site administrator did not shut down the website, but instead of offering the usual links leading to torrents, visitors saw the following message:
“Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.”
Today, about a year later, Torrentz is still online, without a torrent search engine. Another site called Torrentz2 has taken over the role, and today has millions of daily visitors.
However, according to a message posted on the original Torrentz.eu page, things may change in the near future. All of the domain names of the Torrentz site (Торрентз.eu, Торрентз.com and Торрентз.in) are available for sale, as you will see if you visit the page.
