It appears that the legal battle between Apple and Qualcommis taking a new turn, as a Chinese court has ordered Apple to stop selling older iPhone in the country.
According to Qualcomm, the court ruled that Apple infringed on two patents held by the chipmaker. This ruling led to a ban on sales of the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.
Apple has said that all of its iPhone models remain available in China. The company also said that Qualcomm is using deceptive tactics, given that one of the two patents has already been invalidated by international courts, while the other has never been used by the company.
Responding to this statement, Qualcomm said it would seek assistance from Chinese law enforcement courts in the event that Apple violates the ruling regarding sales.
It's also worth noting that ongoing political tensions between the two countries may have also played a role in this case. The trade war between the US and China has affected tech companies in the past. Just recently, Canada announced the arrest of Huawei's CFO and is preparing to extradite her to the US.
