The latest Windows update fiasco seems to have no end, and after withdrawing the big October update due to a major bug leading to data loss, Microsoft is now struggling to fix yet another Windows Update that is causing critical errors and a blue screen of death (BSOD) on some HP systems.
Meanwhile, there are many users struggling to fix less critical Windows update issues, including updates that are stuck and don't seem to finish downloading.
A small application called Windows Update Cache Cleaner can help you fix the problems, although it's worth knowing up front that it's mainly recommended for developers.
What the application does, and which you can easily guess just by reading its name, is clear the Windows Update cache, and thus you will be able to essentially restart the process of downloading certain updates. Windows Update Cache Cleaner makes this process easy for you with the help of a simple graphical interface. You can simply click “Clean” and the process begins.
Your system must be restarted before the application starts so that all locked Windows Update files can be removed. The cleanup takes no more than a minute, and if no errors occur, you will be able to download Windows updates normally.
Windows Update Cache Cleaner works on all versions of Windows, including those that are no longer supported, such as Windows XP and Windows Vista. It is also compatible with the recently released Windows 10 October 2018 Update.
Before using Windows Update Cache Cleaner, it is recommended that you create a backup or restore point on your operating system.
