Microsoft 's acquisition of GitHub is expected to receive approval as soon as this week, according to a Reuters report.
The software giant announced the deal in June and revealed that GitHub would be acquired for $7.5 billion. This makes GitHub Microsoft's second largest acquisition in the last decade, after its $26 billion acquisition of LinkedIn
It should be noted that this acquisition has raised several concerns. Many believe that Microsoft could affect GitHub's operations and make unpleasant changes to its services. Therefore, many developers are moving to alternative services after the announcement of the deal.

GitHub is the world's leading open source repository, and Microsoft is the service's leading partner, while Google and Apple also host their projects on GitHub.
However, Microsoft promised that GitHub would run independently, without significantly changing its culture.
Microsoft Vice President Nat Friedman, founder of Xamarin, will be appointed as CEO of GitHub once the deal is completed, while current GitHub CEO Chris Wanstrath will become a technical partner at Microsoft, reporting to Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie.
