Apple will fix known issues with iOS 12.1

If you own an iPhone XS or XS Max, and your device doesn't seem to be charging like it should, Apple has the solution for you (or will have it soon).

Several users of Apple's new devices have recently reported that when their devices have their screens turned off, they do not charge. The problem currently seems to only exist when charging via cable, as when charging with wireless chargers everything works as it should. Apple is preparing an update for this specific problem, the iOS 12.1 , which is expected to be released shortly.

Beta updates have been available to the Apple public since 2015, but they are not recommended for use on devices that users use every day, as they are usually unstable or contain glitches.

So if your iPhone is your primary device and you rely on it, we recommend that you don't install the beta updates. Instead, you can unplug and plug in the lighting cable while the screen is on. Even if the device's charging indicator doesn't appear right away, it will appear after a while.

iOS 12 debuted last month with the release of the iPhone XS and XS Max. The biggest changes to the software include improved notifications, a new Do Not Disturb mode, and the Measure app. It also added parental controls for parents who don't want their kids using their phones all day, as well as the ability for parents to see how much time their kids are spending on their phones.
