From all the announcements made at Microsoft’s October 2018 Surface event, the one concerning the Surface Headphones was the most impressive.
With the Surface Headphones, Microsoft is taking its first step into the premium headphone market and competing with AirPods . With a great design, the headphones come with rotating dials on both sides.
The left side can be rotated to adjust the volume while the right side is for setting noise cancellation. Microsoft said there are 13 levels of noise control that can be used depending on the environment you are in.
They were released in a silver color, they don't have anything flashy, but they have a very good aesthetic. Weighing only 290 grams, the headphones are truly very lightweight.
It is equipped with a USB‑C port for charging and the company claims they can charge to their maximum capacity within two hours. The music stops playing automatically as soon as you remove them from your ears.
One of their most impressive features is support for Cortana. You need to hold the right button of the headset for a few seconds to activate Cortana. Microsoft's digital assistant can be used to read email messages, start a call and inform you of the weather.
The price of the Surface Headphones starts at $349, and no release date has been announced yet. However, the official blog post from Microsoft states that the premium headphones will be available within the year.
