The iPhone XS Max has won another speed test, this time against the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Apple's new Plus-sized iPhone proved to be faster than its rival in a test analysis of app launch speed on the two devices.
Performed robotically by PhoneBuff, app launch speed tests involve the process of simultaneously opening the same apps on both devices, thereby determining which of their two products loads faster.
The iPhone XS Max won in both cases, proving that the hardware it offers is worth the money. At the same time, the 2018 iPhone managed to store all apps in memory with only one exception, so the 4GB of RAM (versus 3GB in last year's model) makes a huge difference.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 had no trouble storing apps in memory, which is not surprising. The device comes with at least 8GB of RAM
Needless to say, this speed test should in no way be considered an indicator of the actual performance difference between the two devices.
Although the robotic process could reduce human error in such tests, usage patterns vary from one person to another, so either device may prove faster depending on the test scenario.
It is also worth noting that startup speed includes other factors, such as the optimizations that the applications themselves come with in each operating system, and this is not necessarily the case with the device or its manufacturer.
