Chrome 70 deletes cookies and removes auto login

The past week hasn't been the best for Google's Chrome browser. First, news broke about the browser's forced syncing with Gmail, and then, later that week, it was discovered that the browser wasn't deleting cookies it kept for Google services like Gmail and YouTube.

It's clear that Chrome users aren't happy with the changes Google made last week. However, it seems that it has heard the complaints, and has decided to reverse some of the recent changes with the upcoming Chrome version 70, which is expected to be released in mid-October.

In a blog post , Zake Koch, product manager for Google Chrome, says that although they implemented these changes for a good cause, seeing the public's dissatisfaction, they intend to remove them, giving users greater freedom to use their browser.

The changes we expect to see will allow the user to choose, with a setting called “Allow Chrome sign-in,” whether they want to log in to the browser, syncing their settings or not. There will also be clearer signs that show the user whether they are logged in or not, and whether syncing between the browser and their Gmail account is active.

Furthermore, when the user deletes their cookies, all of them will be deleted, unlike now where cookies from Google services remain stored.

Finally, it has been reported that the WWW subdomain will be removed from Chrome's address bar. It was initially removed with the release of version 69, but after countless negative user comments, it was temporarily added back a short while later.
