Google is once again accepting cryptocurrency ads

Google has announced that it is reversing a decision it made earlier in 2018 to block ads related to cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin. The online giant made the decision to block these ads in March for security reasons, but now it appears to have changed its mind. Starting next month, they will be allowed again as normal.

The news came via a change to terms of service policy , which states that the terms of service will be changed to allow online advertising for cryptocurrency exchanges. However, the ads will only be able to target the US and Japan, but can be based anywhere in the world.

It also states that companies wishing to advertise will first need to be certified by Google for the countries in which they wish to run their ads. Applications will be available starting next month, when the change to the terms of use of the service will also take place.

“We don’t know the future, so we can’t be sure where cryptocurrency technology is headed. We have a lot of experience with clients who have advertised fake or misleading programs, so we want to approach this area with extreme caution,” said Scott Spencer, a Google member, when the ad ban was first implemented in May.

The ad ban also affected third-party companies, such as forex platforms and gambling sites, which were temporarily unable to advertise until they were certified by Google. The change came after a similar decision by Facebook, which has been allowing cryptocurrency ads again since June.
