Microsoft and Amazon have partnered to bring Skype to Alexa devices , offering a new feature that allows you to start or answer calls with a single voice command.
Alexa already has support for video and voice calling services, but with Skype compatibility, Amazon and Microsoft hope to achieve a more enticing result for users.
The new feature allows users to start new Skype voice and video calls and accept incoming Skype calls. Voice commands such as “Alexa, call Maria on Skype” or “Alexa, answer” are also supported, according to Microsoft’s announcement.
In addition, the new application will also allow SkypeOut calls, although we do not yet have more details on exactly how users will be able to make these voice calls.

Microsoft sees this new feature as a continuation of its partnership with Amazon, which also includes support for the Xbox One, technically allowing users to control certain functions of the console with the help of the digital assistant Alexa.
According to sources online, Alexa devices with Skype support will be revealed by the end of the year, possibly sometime next month. Microsoft is reportedly holding an event on October 2nd to celebrate its Surface devices, during which we may learn more details about this partnership.
