The Fappening (2018): English actress and model Jorgie Porter, known for her role as Theresa McQueen in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, is the latest victim of hackers who managed to steal personal photos and videos and publish them online.
The content belonging to the 30-year-old was posted on websites known for sharing data in the context of the Fappening saga as well as on adult websites. According to reports, Porter appears nude in the photos with her former partner, Stephanie Davis.
It appears that content was stolen from Porter's iCloud account, as her photos and videos were uploaded to the cloud, likely for backup purposes.
In the past, inappropriate photos and videos belonging to several celebrities have been leaked due to the breach of iCloud and Google accounts. In most of these cases, the hacks were based on phishing emails sent to victims asking for login credentials. By clicking on links in the emails, they were taken to websites that appeared legitimate at first glance, but were actually hosted on third-party servers to send the information to the hackers.
Note that by default, Apple, such as iPhones and iPads, are set to automatically upload photos and videos to iCloud.
Jorgie Porter has not commented on the matter, but one of her friends said she is "so upset" because "these are purely personal moments.".
It is unclear whether the incident has been reported to the police and whether the websites that published the photos have already removed them, but as usual, what goes up on the internet never actually comes down to reality.
The latest Fappening victims include other celebrities, such as Guardians of the Galaxy actress Mikaela Hoover, Fox Sports presenter Charissa Thompson and WWE diva Maria Kanellis.
