After releasing the latest Android 8.0 Oreo to unlocked HTC U11, HTC has also rolled out the Android Oreo update for HTC U11 Life users.
HTC's vice president announced on Twitter that now users of HTC U11 Life smartphones can also install Android 8.0 Oreo on their devices, which comes as an OTA (Over-the-Air) update.
Please note again that the update is only available for unlocked HTC U11 Life devices. This is an automatic update that is gradually rolling out to all users worldwide, so you may need to be patient until your turn comes.
The HTC U11 Life is the newest mid-range member of the U11 family and features a water and dust resistant design. It features HTC U11 Edge Sense, allowing users to easily access certain options by simply pressing the bottom of the device.
It follows the design and innovations of the HTC U11 and is powered by Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. However, as we mentioned earlier, users can now upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo which introduces new features such as Picture-in-Picture (PiP), Android instant apps, notification dots, background limiter and over 60 new emoji.
While Google plans to release Android 8.1 Oreo to supported Pixel and Nexus devices, other Android smartphone manufacturers seem to be struggling to bring Android 8.0 Oreo to their devices. According to official statistics, Android Oreo is running on only 0.3% of devices worldwide.
