September Windows Update locks users out of their accounts

Microsoft has released cumulative updates for various versions of Windows. Earlier, it was known that some HP devices running Windows 10 were affected by a black screen after login issue.

Now, an issue has arisen related to Windows 8.1. A post on Microsoft Answers last week reveals that some users are unable to sign in to their Microsoft accounts after the September updates, reports MSPowerUser.

The computer logs users out of their account and displays the following message, indicating a network error as the cause:

"Sorry, we could not connect to Microsoft services right now. If this problem persists, search for "network problems" on the Start screen."

According to a response published by Microsoft, the company was already aware of the problem and was working on a fix.

“This is a known issue in Windows 8.1 after the last September Update. Our Support Engineers are already looking into it and we are working to resolve it as quickly as possible to minimize the inconvenience to our customers. We will keep you updated via this link once the issue is fixed.”

Given the low market share of Windows 8.1, it's unlikely that the bug affected many users. A significant share of the blame must be given to the free and forced availability of Windows 10, in addition to the already abysmal performance of the operating system.

In conclusion, affected users will have to wait until the update arrives.
