UICF the children of ISIS: Interpol in collaboration with Group-IB, a security company from Moscow, identified and revealed the real identities of five members of the Federal Islamic Government Force or United Islamic Cyber Force (UICF).
UICF is a loosely controlled hacker group that specializes in website defacement and DDoS attacks when politically charged issues occur. The group usually works in support of ISIS.
The group has been active since January 2014 and has managed to gain over 40 members during its online presence.
The most popular UICF “hacks” are the defacement of the TV5Monde, Bloc Québécois and Notepad++ in January 2015, following the Charlie Hebdo.
UICF hackers took control of the websites and posted pro-ISIS messages in support of the Charlie Hebdo terrorists.
From these defacements, along with other evidence they provided in their hacks, Group-IB researchers were able to create profiles for the UICF hackers.
In five cases, researchers were able to link these profiles to their real identities. All five UICF hackers are young men, fresh out of school.
According to Group-IB, the five hackers are: Chakra Bernaty (AnoaGhost) from Indonesia. Guntur R. (Gunz_Berry) from Indonesia, Habiblahi Adeleke B. (W3bh4x0r) from Nigeria. Lakhar B., (Lakhdar DZ) 21 years old from the city of Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria and Zishan Rider from Delhi, India.
Each of these five hackers is part of multiple hacking groups, not just the UICF. But all five are low-skilled individuals.
The Group-IB report includes censored photos of the hackers, links to social media profiles, and how researchers discovered each of them.
The most interesting case is that of AnoaGhost, in which researchers reportedly discovered him because of a photo he uploaded online. The image showed the hacker dressed in his school uniform, which also displayed his real name.
