Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Pro 2017 which was experiencing an unexpected shutdown issue.
The update, which is version 233.1763.257.0, improves the behavior of the Surface System Aggregator by overhauling the power system. Microsoft also promises that the sudden hibernation issue will be resolved as well.
The giant announced the official availability of the new update and urged users to update their Surface Pro device via Windows Update. You can download the specific Update version by clicking on the following: Settings > Update & security > Windows Update.
Recall that Surface Pro 2017 users had complained that their devices were suddenly turning off even when they were using the device. The bug bears many similarities to the hibernation issue that several models have encountered with the screens suddenly going dark at random times.
Microsoft a new corresponding fix which can be received with the new update.
This happened as there are several users who claim that the problem persists even after installing the latest firmware update with one small difference: the Surface Pro goes into sleep mode.
"I was trying to test battery life by changing the brightness from 100% to 0% while watching a video. From the moment the brightness was at 0% it suddenly went to maximum on its own and the video played for only a few seconds until the screen started flickering and the computer turned off," explains one Surface Pro owner.
It remains to be seen whether other users have experienced similar issues. In any case, it is recommended that all Surface Pro owners install the latest firmware update and report any future issues to Microsoft.
