A new report from The Inventor claims that 's new flagships Samsung, the Galaxy S8 and S8+, are not recording the same sales numbers as Galaxy S7 last year's
As we all know, the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ took place at the end of April and now, two and a half months later, the company has sold 20% fewer devices compared to last year.
Specifically, Samsung sold 9.8 million Galaxy S8 and S8+ units in the first two months of release, a figure that is about 20% less than the 12 million Galaxy 7 units sold last year.
But what is the reason for this unexpected decrease?
According to analysts, the reason is the highly saturated smartphone market and not the quality of the product.
It should be noted that Samsung announced in mid-May that total shipments of the Galaxy S8/S8+ had surpassed 10 million units. It seems that sales slowed significantly in the period following this statement.
The Inventor also reports that Samsung has reduced supply orders for various components of the new smartphones, which indicates a drop in sales.
But beyond the saturated smartphone market, many believe that the ability to support Bixby only in Korea and the Note 7 scandal contributed to the decline in sales.
Samsung avoids releasing sales statistics for its new flagships - we can all understand why - and claims that the sales volume of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be similar to the Galaxy S7.
