In a previous article, we saw how we can use our computer's RAM as a virtual hard drive, achieving unsurpassed speeds and performance in our system. Today, we will see some easy and quick ways in which we can improve the performance and speed of Windows 10, without using hardware.

1. Transparency? No more.
The Windows 10 is transparent and sexy, but that transparency costs you some system resources. To free up those resources, you can disable transparency for the Start menu, Taskbar, and Action Center. How?
Go to Settings > Personalization > Colors and turn off the “ Make Start, taskbar, and action center transparent ” option . It’s that simple.

2. Visual effects? Put an end to it
In addition to transparency, Windows 10 has a number of other special effects. If you want to get rid of them permanently, freeing up even more resources, right-click on the Start and go to System. (Start menu -> System)
On the left you will see the option “ Advanced system settings ”. After clicking on it, go to the “ Advanced ” tab. In the “ Performance ” section , click on the Settings option.
This will open the Performance Options. On the Display Effects, select Settings for optimal performance to disable all unnecessary animations and special effects – or alternatively, select Customize and deselect any visual effects you don’t need. Yes, you can live without them. When you’re done, don’t forget to click OK to apply your changes.

3. Automatically starting programs? Limit it.
Disable programs that start automatically when you start your computer and enable Fast Startup.
If your computer is significantly slow to boot, first make sure that Fast Startup is enabled in Settings -> Power & sleep -> Related settings -> Additional power settings . From the menu on the left, click on “Choose what happens when you close the lid” and check if Fast Startup is enabled in Shutdown settings .

One of the main reasons your computer might be running slowly is that you may have too many programs that start automatically when you boot your system. To fix this, right-click the Start and then go to Task Manager. Click the Startup tab (or “More details” first, if the Startup tab doesn’t appear directly) and look through the list of programs that start with your computer. If you see a program that doesn’t need to be there, right-click it and select Disable.

4. Performance Troubleshooter. Find and fix the problem.
Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter that can help you find and fix any problems that might be affecting your computer's speed. To open the troubleshooter, right-click the Start and go to Control Panel. In the Security and Maintenance at the top, click Troubleshoot PC problems. From the System and Security section, select Run maintenance tasks...and leave the rest to Windows.
