Ultimate Edition 5.4 Not for me

Ultimate Edition 5.4: The Ultimate Edition distribution, first released in December 2006, is a fork of Ubuntu and Linux Mint.

The goal of the project is a complete, flawlessly integrated, visually stimulating and easy-to-install operating system.

One-click upgrades are one of the many special features of this distribution. Other key features include a custom desktop and theme with 3D effects, support for a wide range of networking options including WiFi and Bluetooth, and the integration of many additional applications and package repositories.Ultimate Edition 5.4

Although I'm not a fan of Ubuntu, I decided to try Ultimate Edition version 5.4, which is the latest version.
I downloaded ultimate-edition-5.4-x64-lite.iso and tried to burn it to a USB using some GUI application.

I used Unetbootin, to no avail, but also the application developed by openSUSE and it had never disappointed me before. Ultimate Edition 5.4 Not for me

Failure. Unetbootin failed to create a bootable USB and openSUSE imagewriter didn't even want to try.Ultimate Edition 5.4 Not for me

I didn't put it down, and I had no desire to burn DVDs for a test installation.

I tried with terminal and the well-known dd command. The ISO was transferred to the USB, but I still couldn't boot.Ultimate Edition 5.4 Not for me

Although I had decided that I wouldn't go through the process of burning DVDs, the above attempts were driving me a little crazy.

Next move? The K3B:

Ultimate Edition 5.4Let me mention for the record that the system I use for all of the above is CentOS in the latest version. The most reliable Linux I've ever encountered.

I finally managed to boot the operating system live, but I noticed that it was extremely slow. I have tried other distributions (like openSUSE) from DVDs but I have not encountered such a delay in any of them.

After a lot of patience and stubbornness, I managed to see the operating system's desktop and it was exactly what I was trying to avoid:

A modified version of Mate, with a lot of effects. Unfortunately, this particular desktop disappointed me, as I prefer simple things. The more effects and the more applications, the slower the operating system.

And Ultimate Edition 5.4 is full of applications. In the image below you can see how many applications there are for audio and video:Ultimate Edition 5.4 Not for me

Honestly, so many applications that look like bloatware. Now, as far as application management is concerned, the distribution has a classic Mate control panel, Ubuntu's software updater, and Synaptic for installing new operating systems. Ultimate Edition 5.4

Ultimate Edition 5.4

As you can imagine, I was not thrilled with my experience with Ultimate Edition 5.4. I found quite a few annoying things, or to put it more elegantly, features that I avoid.

I wasted a lot of time trying to get Ultimate Linux running, and when I loaded it up I was disappointed with what I saw. Such a system is definitely not for older computers, as in addition to the memory issues they will face, there will also be several shortcomings in the graphics card.

Many things didn't work. Applications failed to load or caused the system to lock up. The ISO didn't load properly or didn't load at all.

The Ultimate Edition 5.4 distribution failed to run well on hardware running CentOS, Fedora, openSUSE, Debian, and Manjaro.

The Ultimate Edition is aimed at new Linux users, and will certainly impress them with the graphics and the multitude of applications it has.

The distribution reminded me, however, that sometimes appearances are more important than substance: for example, this distribution has nice desktop applets for monitoring system resources.
