As we've mentioned in previous articles, Samsung was left with four million smartphones that were likely to have battery issues after the Galaxy Note 7 recall in 2016. So this year, it decided to reveal its plans for these units.
Some of the Galaxy Note 7s will be refurbished with a smaller battery compared to the original model. For those who don't remember, last year's model had a 3,500mAh battery while this year's model comes with a 3,200mAh. The new Galaxy Note 7 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat - the only change we'll see - while all other specifications will remain the same.
Recent reports reveal that the price of the new smartphone will reach around $620, $266 less than the original model. The strange but pleasant thing about the matter is that many sources also claim that the new smartphone comes with a 50% discount, which means that it will cost just $443.
Samsung has not yet decided on the release schedule for the refurbished Galaxy Note 7R, but the only certainty is that the company will present it before the launch of the Galaxy Note 8.
Regarding the Galaxy Note 8, it could be announced in August, given that the Galaxy Note 7 was announced in the same month last year. Local reports, on the other hand, indicate a launch date of late May to early June after Samsung receives the required safety certification from the state radio communications agency.
At the moment, no official announcement has been made by the company, but we should expect it from time to time.
