The Dark Web has now become a huge platform for selling account details, this time Youku, a Chinese video service similar to Youtube, has fallen victim to it. According to an exclusive report, the company's accounts are being sold on the Dark Web.
The vendor is selling the database that was hacked in 2016 under the name CosmicDark and they claim to have 100,759,591 user account details.
However, there was no report of any database issue in 2016. However, CosmicDark is selling the database containing YouKu user account details for $300.
However, the company has decrypted the emails and passwords with MD5 and SHA1 hashes.
The total 552 sample account data provided by CosmicDark shows that most of the emails are based on @163.com, @qq.com, and @xiaonei.com.
Research conducted by deepweb-sites.com shows that these encrypted passwords are already decrypted and available on the Internet.
But there is no indication whether YouKu is aware of the breach or not. It seems that users have not been notified about this hack and it creates a huge privacy issue.
