Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus: Just a few minutes ago, Canonical and Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth announced the codename of the next major release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system.
We are now talking about Ubuntu 17.04, codenamed Zesty Zapus. While some are still in the process of installing the new Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak), the Ubuntu development team has started working on Ubuntu 17.04. The upcoming distribution will be another regular release of the Linux operating system that will be supported for 9 months.
But what exactly is a Zapus? Well, according to Wikipedia, it's a genus of North American mouse, and according to the creators of Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) it's expected to be a fast and flexible GNU/Linux distribution. Also, according to Mark Shuttleworth, it looks like Ubuntu is moving even faster into the cloud computing space.
At the moment, no one knows exactly when the new Ubuntu 17.04 operating system will be released and what new features it will contain.
At this time, we can say that it will be released sometime in April 2017, by the time the usual development cycle consisting of two Alpha and two Beta releases is completed.
