I won't save it on the floppy disk, don't insist! Stories from the ramparts!

When was the last time you came across a 1.44 floppy disk? Do you miss it at all?

Friends and Friends follows one of the top stories we have received from a war zone in the IT trenches of a well-known company. It is about the eternal war between corruption and incorruption, love and hate, stupidity and utter stupidity, once again leveling every trace of common sense and driving the friend, colleague, worker and fighter in the battlements of IT to the limits of defiance.

Of course, if you want your own prayers for the death of any retard who doesn't understand that it's not the computer's fault if the DVD-ROM broke because you went to insert a 1.44 floppy disk that you were using as a coaster until recently, to be heard, you can send stories to info@secnews.gr

The HR manager is calling because she couldn't save a pdf file on her computer. I understand that it's probably a file that Adobe Reader won't let you save or is simply locked for any use other than reading. I was completely taken aback. It was a simple file that had just been scanned by our company's highly experienced and highly qualified HR manager.

I go over to her computer and notice that the file is still open. And to put you in the mood a little better, in the system we use, when you scan a file by default it sends it to email so you don't have to sweat too much. So of course she could just drag-n-drop it to her Desktop, but for some reason it hadn't even crossed her mind. Since she had the file open on her computer, I tell her to just click save on the icon and then select save to your desktop. She just refused! "No!" she says to me "if I wanted to save it to a disk I would have done it myself I wouldn't have called you to come. I just want to save it to my Desktop". I take a deep breath and explain to her that clicking the save icon, which does indeed have a disk as an indicator, will NOT necessarily save it to a disk that we are NOT using anymore anyway, but wherever she chooses... even on the Desktop. She kept arguing and pointing out to me that the existence of the floppy disk icon meant something else! I kept telling her to trust me and click on the icon. She kept categorically refusing. She said that I didn't understand what she was trying to do and it was a shame she didn't call someone else who would figure it out faster. I kept telling her to click the @$%^@* icon! I even offered to click it for her. NO!. She insisted categorically. She even told me that she wanted her to do it and not me because otherwise how would she know? She was now annoyed with me and had also raised her voice, insisting that I was wrong. HER was annoyed with me, I repeat.

Finally, she took her hand off the mouse for a moment, which I immediately grabbed and pressed save. Immediately, the window appeared asking for confirmation to save the file to her Desktop.

Her reaction was "Oh!"

My good people, my pills please!
