In October 2015, Mr. Sanmay Ved briefly acquired ownership of the domain name, Google.com, because the company had forgotten to renew it.
Of course, the event didn't last long, and Ved had no intention of buying the company name. But Google decided to offer him a financial reward.
Initially, Ved refused to disclose the amount the company gave him, and when he did, he said it was “more than $10,000.”
Today, Google announced the amount in “Google Security Rewards — 2015 Year in Review.”
Initially, Google paid $6,006.13 to Ved.
But when it was discovered that Ved donated this money to charity, the company doubled the amount.
