A few days ago we announced the new ZUK Z1. ZUK is a startup that is actually backed by Lenovo. As we mentioned above, it recently announced its first smartphone.
But the most interesting thing is the fact that during the announcement, a very awesome prototype was presented.
As you can see in the photo below published by GizmoChina, Zuk has unveiled the prototype of a smartphone that appears to have a transparent display.
This way, text and images appear on the screen, which due to its transparency, displays a see-through effect. We're not sure what kind of usability a transparent screen could have, but one possible use for it could be with augmented reality applications.
It should be noted that the prototype shown in the photo may actually be just a screen, without a device. The transparent display you see above is not the first to appear. Earlier this year, Samsung also showed off its own transparent display.
The company hasn't announced when or if we'll see such a device on the market, but it's certainly a very interesting idea. We can't yet know how useful it will be in practice, but as a teaser used by the fledgling company, it seems to have worked very well.
