CHIP (CHIP) is a new mini computer with powerful hardware. Its price is truly ridiculous since it will cost only 9 dollars, not to mention the fact that it is incredibly small.
The CHIP computer is actually much smaller than the Raspberry Pi 2, and has roughly the same capabilities (some of its features even surpass them).
It's hard to imagine how CHIP's makers have managed to offer so many features with such a small device, but as you can see from the photos and their statements, they probably succeeded.
In a mini PC, you can connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, since the operating system is included. However, the CHIΡ also has some additional new features, such as built-in controllers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. These last two features are very serious and absent from the Raspberry Pi.
CHIP's developers are currently seeking funding that will allow them to mass produce the project.
“ CHIP is a computer for students, teachers, grandparents, kids, artists, makers, hackers, and inventors. For everyone really. CHIP is a great way to bring a computer into your life and the perfect way to power your computer. With 1GHz and 512MB of DDR3 RAM, CHIP is powerful enough to run the software it comes with, and handle the demands of a full GUI. Best of all, CHIP runs Linux…”, states the project’s Kickstarter presentation.
The fact that it comes with a 1Ghz processor, 512MB DDRAM3, and 4GB of storage makes it ideal for a multitude of functions. It can be used as a regular computer, as a multimedia center, and much more. The possibilities are endless.
To make things even more interesting, the makers of CHIP also provide a unique LiPo battery that can power the device for hours and can be charged through it. This means that the device can be portable.
