Reddit today launched HTTPS support for all of its pages via CloudFlare, a popular CDN and DNS service . The move means that all of its users can now use encrypted connections when browsing the site.
For those who don't know, Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is a secure communication protocol. Despite the name, however, it is technically not a protocol in itself, as it consists of the SSL / TLS protocol with an HTTP layer .
All your communications from today, including your authentication credentials and cookies, will not be visible to man-in-the-middle.
This is because Reddit is to redirect any non- HTTPS requests containing your credentials to HTTPS. However, the company says this won't work for everyone because it "cannot force those using client APIs, such as mobile apps or bots, or some older browsers, to use this setting."
