Microsoft is preparing a new round of updates this coming Tuesday. This time, there are fewer updates targeting vulnerabilities in Windows and Internet Explorer .
The company announced in its security bulletin advance notification for September 2014 that it will issue a total of four updates next Tuesday, of which only one is classified as "critical" while the others are considered "important."
Microsoft is notoriously reluctant to provide details about these vulnerabilities, for obvious reasons, but it did say that all versions of Windows and Internet Explorer will receive these updates.
The company did not forget to remind users who insist on using Windows XP:
“It’s true that you can continue to use your Windows XP computer after support ends, but we don’t recommend it. Your system will become five times more vulnerable to security risks and viruses, which means it could be hacked and your personal files stolen.” Microsoft is certainly keen to promote its new operating system, but there are many who are waiting for a version of Windows that will receive good reviews from those who use it. If the company manages to meet the high expectations of consumers with the upcoming Windows 9, it may see many people make the jump from Windows XP to the new operating system. Consumers continue to be wary as everyone remembers what happened with Vista, not to mention Windows 8, where opinions are still divided.
