The recent psychological experiment by Facebook, although condemnable, led to some conclusions regarding the psychology of its users, which were further developed by two researchers.
First of all, Facebook conducted a psychological test on 700,000 of its members, without their knowledge, in which it displayed optimistic and pessimistic messages in their news feed, in order to see if these would affect their psychology.
The results of the psychological test indicated that those who received positive messages subsequently proceeded to share their own messages and posts that moved in the same direction, while those exposed to negative news, comments, and messages adopted the same behavior.
In this way, they were led to the conclusion that most users of the social network are significantly influenced by the publications that appear on their timeline.
Based on the above experiment, two European researchers, Fabio Sabatini from the Sapienza University of Rome and Francesco Sarracino from STATEC (Luxembourg's Statistical Office), conducted a large survey in Italy, with 50 thousand participants.
The main questions of the survey were whether users are satisfied with their lives, whether they trust their fellow human beings and what their typical habits are on the Internet.
The responses revealed that people are happier with their lives when they meet and interact with their loved ones outside of Social Networks, while in the same way they show more trust in other people.
Also, as it turned out, those who spend a lot of time on the Internet and social networks are quite cautious about human relationships and rather unhappy, while as the researchers emphasize, social networks do anything but network and bring people closer together.
