The PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network were down for at least nine hours on Sunday, August 24, 2014 , and have now recovered from the artificial flood of connection requests to Sony's entertainment services.
The company is responding to fears that the April 2011 incident will repeat itself, assuring millions of users of its services that their data is safe. The announcement was published on the official PlayStation Network blog. The Guardian reports that are claiming responsibility for the distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) via Twitter , with the latter denying the former’s claims and posting a video in which it highlights the security flaws in the Playstation Network. In fact, the owner of the account, who appears as FameGod, says that Sony should follow Microsoft in terms of security and not allow access to its network by PlayStations that have been jailbroken. However, both groups are hinting or directly threatening that “Xbox is Next” (@FameGod).
