Google has overtaken Apple to become the world's most valuable brand. This year's BrandZ survey finds that Apple has fallen from last year, leaving plenty of room for Google .
Millward Brown's research estimates the value of Google's brand at 115,900,000,000 euros, while Apple comes in second place with its value reaching 107,900,000,000 euros.
“Google has a highly innovative product this year, Google Glass, several investments in artificial intelligence and a series of very good partnerships,” said Benoit Tranzer, head of Millward Brown in France.
The annual 2014 BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands (read the full survey PDF, to download, right-click and save as) shows that the total value of the world's most important brands has risen by 12%, which translates to $2.9 trillion or €2.12 trillion.
Apple held the top spot for three consecutive years, but it seems this year was not its year, as its brand value fell by 20% from the previous year.
IBM comes in third, exactly the same position as last year, and its brand value reaches 78,440,000,000 euros. Microsoft follows in fourth place, with a value of 65,800,000,000 euros, almost 30% above last year's results.
