Microsoft announced that the Office for iPad suite has recorded a total of 27 million downloads since its launch a month and a half ago.
The announcement, made during Microsoft's TechEd conference, details the number of downloads in the top ten markets. With this data, the Office suite for iPad tablets has recorded a total of 27 million downloads.
Microsoft's previous report for the app was on April 3rd, with 12 million downloads. In the month and a half since its release, the Office for iPad suite has achieved a daily download rate of 587,000.
It is worth noting that Office for iPad includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications and can be downloaded for free so that the user can view text files, worksheets and presentations. However, in order to gain the ability to create new files and edit existing ones, the user must obtain an Office 365 subscription.
