iOS 7 bug allows iCloud deletion without password

A new bug has surfaced in iOS 7.1 that appears to allow anyone with physical access to the device to delete the owner's iCloud without having to type in the password. The technique isn't exactly easy, but that doesn't mean Apple shouldn't fix the security hole.

iCloud

According to the YouTube video uploader, Miguel Alvarado, you can delete your Apple cloud account by going to the Settings panel, iCloud, and selecting “Delete Account.” At the same time, you should disable Find My iPhone. The phone will display two dialog boxes, but you won’t use either of them. Immediately after, while the device asks for your password to proceed with deleting your iCloud account, turn off the phone.
After the reboot, open the Settings window again and choose to delete the account.

This time, iOS will not ask you for a password but will delete your account. The vulnerability is quite serious and must be addressed as soon as possible by Apple.

Apple must also address an iOS 7 issue that results in short battery life. So far, there is no indication that the company is trying to fix it.

As is known to those who work with the company, updates on such matters do not arrive as the release of a new iOS or a new device, which always comes with a new iOS, approaches. Due to the seriousness of the vulnerability, we hope that Apple will implement the fix.
