Along with all the other issues that have been reported while updating Windows to Windows 8.1, it turns out that the new operating system released by Microsoft last week has also caused problems with the Skype.
There are several posts on the Microsoft support forum that report that Skype is not working after installing Windows 8.1 for reasons that have not yet been determined.
“I upgraded my system to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 yesterday. Since then I can't connect to Skype. When Skype tries to connect, the system returns to the home screen with icons,” says one of those who encountered the problem.
The Skype development team is aware of the issue. However, until Microsoft releases an update that fixes the problem, uninstall and reinstall the Skype application and it will work normally.
