If you’re looking for work online, be wary of emails advertising Disney Cruise Line. Experts have identified a scam designed to trick users into handing over personal information and money.
These emails, according to Hoax Slayer, are titled “Disney Cruise Line – Job Offer” and contain something like this (in English):
“We would like to inform you that we are seeking candidates to work with Disney Cruise Line [Australia] under Job Identification Number EU/DCL/00867-13. Total recruitment will be 205 candidates. Minimum age requirement 18 years and above.
We need serious proposals who have the ability to work hard and must agree and abide by the rules and regulations of the company. Working on a cruise ship requires discipline. The salary depends on the position you will apply for and your experience. The salary ranges from 3,120 EURO and above. ”
The emails have no connection to Disney Cruise Line . Those who respond will be asked to fill out a job application form with all their personal information.
Additionally, the scammers behind such job scams usually try to convince victims to pay them upfront fees, supposedly required for things like insurance and police checks.
In most cases, the scammers continue to ask for money until the victim cooperates. Of course, they state that the upfront fees will be refunded in full.
In reality, there is no job offer and victims are unlikely to ever get their money back. This is why it is recommended to be extremely suspicious when it comes to job offers advertised via spam emails.
Legitimate companies announce their job offers on specialized websites or on their own official websites.
Always check the legitimacy of a job offer before responding. It will save you a lot of trouble.
For now, we have not seen, at least on a large scale, similar Greek hoaxes, but given the high unemployment rate in Greece, we should not rule out that they will appear and even with possible success.
