Edward Snowden has just received documents from the Russian Migration Service, allowing him to enter Russian territory.
“I just handed him the documents from the Russian Migration Service. These documents are necessary for him to leave the transit area of the airport,” his lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, the media.
Edward Snowden has been living in the transit zone of Sheremetyevo for over a month and applied for asylum in Russia two weeks ago.
The documents Snowden received give him a temporary residence permit (for one year) until the Russian Migration Service makes a final decision on his asylum application. A final decision from the service usually takes three months.
