The charity drive and auction of an hour of coffee with Tim Cook, as we mentioned in previous articles, broke all Charitybuzz records in its history.
Currently, the highest bidder wins the coveted coffee with the Apple CEO for a whopping $600,000. The strange thing is that today a new bidder appeared who surpassed that amount by declaring $605,000 but was removed from Charitybuzz's online system after a while.
Philip Elmer-Dewitt, a spokesperson for Charitybuzz, told Fortune that someone so desperately wanted to have coffee with Tim Cook and meet him in person that he stole a credit card to do so.
Fortunately, the company quickly realized this, the amount was deducted, and the transaction details were given to the authorities who are searching for the suspect.
After today, the idea I had jokingly mentioned on my personal Facebook page about starting a KickStarter to raise the amount now seems logical.
With at least 12 days left until the close of this particular auction, we may see other crazy stories...
