Six months after taking charge of iOS software design, Jony Ive seems to have taken the matter very personally and is working non-stop on it. The truth is that we hoped for this too, since history has shown us that Ive devotes body and soul to whatever he undertakes, to make it unique and express himself.
iOS 7 is expected to be announced in June at WWDC 2013, so with less than 2 months to go before its public release, one would expect Apple to be putting the finishing touches on it.
Sources close to Apple told Bloomberg that iOS 7 is still a long way from being completed, and that Jony Ive and the rest of the software design team want to implement dramatic changes to the software. New icon designs and the elimination of the skeuomorphic character of Apple's apps are just some of them.

Apple seems to be racing to get it out in June and available sometime in September. Rumors that OS X engineers have joined Jony Ive's team to help with iOS 7 seem to be true, as does the fact that for the first time at Apple, especially since Scott Forstall's departure, Apple's Hardware and Software departments are working in harmony and in direct consultation.
