Mozilla today announced the first mobile phone preview for developers, built in collaboration with open source mobile experts Geeksphone.
The device, which has been developed by Geeksphone and Telefonica, will not be representative of what consumers can expect when Firefox OS finally hits the market, but it was built to provide developers with hardware on which they can create, test, and deploy applications and widgets that can run on the new open source operating system, TNW reports.
The device features a 1GHz Snapdragon S1 processor, 4GB of ROM and 512MB of RAM, a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 3-megapixel camera, MicroSD support, a 1580 mAh battery, and support for 2G and 3G networks. Remember, this is not a consumer device, so the specs are somewhat limited. Of course, the phone runs Firefox OS.
