Facebook is offering the ability to communicate via free phone calls to iPhone owners in the US. All they need is to have the Facebook Messenger app activated and access to the internet, via Wi-Fi or 3G.
Then, when they connect with a contact who also has the app installed, they will see the letter "i" in the upper right part of the screen. By pressing it, they simply select the "Free Call" option.
However, phone calls only concern iPhone owners, which means that through the application one cannot call a landline or talk to a "friend" who is connected to the social network site.
Facebook officials say they are working on two new versions of the application, for Android and BlackBerry mobile phones, which will also include the new feature. At the same time, they will soon offer the ability to make free calls outside the United States.
