A new report pointing towards the imminent death of the Lumia brand, this time coming from Germany, where Microsoft's flagship Windows phone is sold out and unlikely to become available again in the near future.
Reports coming from local media indicate that the Lumia 950 is no longer available in German Microsoft, as the device is sold out everywhere across the country. But what's more important is that the software giant has no intention of restocking anytime soon.
The device was already on sale with a significant price cut in an attempt to clear out stocks, but now that they're already sold out, Microsoft may be moving forward, paving the way for what many believe is the end of the Lumia brand.
Specifically, Microsoft no longer wants to keep the brand alive, and people with knowledge of the matter have hinted that production of the latest Lumia models, including the 950, 950 XL, and 650, has already stopped.
Microsoft hasn't confirmed any plans to shut down the brand, but it has given several indications that it could indeed do so, as it is removing the Lumia section from its Store homepage and not informing staff in retail stores about the phones' availability.
At the same time, Redmond has repeatedly stated that it will continue to invest in Windows 10 Mobile and support partners who want to launch devices that will run the OS. Windows 10 Mobile is expected to receive a very significant update in the spring of 2017 with the release of Redstone 2.
