These include the ability to choose a theme for the keyboard background (even a photo!), as well as the addition of new emojis.
The new keyboard was originally planned as part of the new Android N , but it looks like the keyboard will be released sooner than the operating system, as an update to the Play Store . As with many of Google 's apps , the new keyboard is rolling out gradually, so if you haven't received it yet, hold on and you will definitely be able to download it in the near future.
As mentioned, the big change in the new keyboard is the ability to choose themes. You'll now be able to choose from a range of different keyboard colors, and even use your own image as the keyboard background. From the same menu where you select a theme, you'll also be able to change the keyboard's outline, a feature that was already available, but via a different menu.
Last but not least, Google Keyboard 5.1 will come with support for Unicode 9 emojis, which will allow users to even choose the color tone of the emoji. It is important to note that the feature will not be available on Android Marshmallow but you will need to have Android N for Unicode 9 to work.
Finally, if you don't want to wait for the new keyboard to be released for your device, you can simply download it from apk Mirror. You'll need to make sure you download the correct version for your device, though, and if you've never done this before, you should probably just wait for it to be officially released on the PlayStore.
