Facebook announced a bunch of new products at its developers conference this week, but one question is on everyone's mind: "Where's Google?"

It seems Facebook is leaving its mark on Google in some areas where the search giant should normally dominate. Facebook's aggressive development in some new technologies has the potential to shake up the business landscape.
Take Facebook's recent move into live-streaming video, for example. Sure, YouTube has broadcasting capabilities and has live-streamed major events like the US president's State of the Union address and many debates. But Facebook is bringing its streaming capabilities to the public and has already proven the virality of its approach, with nearly a million people tuning in simultaneously to watch a watermelon explode.
According to a social network partner, part of the success of this live product is that video creators can attract people who are simply on Facebook anyway. Google can attract the same number of people or more to watch a live video on YouTube, but in most cases those people will have searched for that video, they wouldn't just be browsing YouTube and coming across it.
And success in live video, which is the closest thing to television, also means huge advertising potential! Right now, advertisers like YouTube because it has higher-quality content and brands can pair up with professional video creators. On the other hand, Facebook doesn't have the same amount of high-quality video to offer advertisers, but that's something the social network aims to change soon.

The other area you'd expect Google to dominate is messaging , but Facebook's Messenger app seems to be miles ahead of anything Google offers. Google's Hangouts is a chat app that includes live video elements but is primarily a conversation tool.
Messenger, on the other hand, has come a long way since with the new chatbots, Zuckerberg envisions a new chat through which users will be able to buy a T-shirt, call their Uber, make a reservation for food, buy tickets, check the flight, etc.

Now imagine users being able to send a message to Tide detergent about how to get a coffee stain out of their clothes and receive a direct video response on Messenger. GOODBYE Google ads!
There is a possibility that Google search will be forgotten since people will now be able to search for whatever they want via chat, which in our case is Messenger
The Wall Street Journal reported last December that Google is planning to release a smart, bot-focused messenger app, but we haven't seen any evidence of the product yet.
Google has its own developer conference next month and we hope it doesn't disappoint us with its new product announcements!
